LENT 09

Mar. 4th, 2008 | 08:38 pm

I was trying to just work on drawing girls, which is something I think I am quite horrible at. I also have wondered how to draw people kissing so some how it turned into lesbians. The lips need work, maybe i will try again. Who knows.

I bought some non-photo blue pencils to try them out since a lot of artist swear by them. I do like it that I don't have to erase after I draw whatever and it has come in handy with Rose City this last time around. I think it will make lettering a lot easier as well. Anyway, to make sure that my scanner would indeed not pick up the pencils when I scanned it I just drew a random image and so I turned this thing out. It is a few characters from the zombie apocalypse dnd game we have been playing. This is just a scribe and a soldier from an ultra religious survivors camp that has appeared near us.

Here is the lastest Zombie Apocalyse RPG drawing. He is our medic/gene slicer class. He also has crazy knowledge of guns which makes the game more fun. He is a pretty good guy all around. I think this drawing came out all right. I tried more of an action stance and I think it turned out pretty decent. Check it out.

LENT 06

Here are two drawings of girls. One was done about 6 months ago (the Ween girl) and one about a week ago (based off a panel of Kim Pine from Scott Pilgrim). You can see the difference...or maybe you can't. I think I do. I still need to work on eyes and on their stances. I have a hardtime drawing acurate stances. They always look awkward. I have been just drawing pictures of girls from other comics and photos to work on stances. Anyway, here they are, first one is the older one.

In this weeks Rose City you can see a poster in the first panel, that poster is a death cab for cutie poster. I band I hate to admit I like as much as i do. Anyway, I drew a tiny Ben Gibbard in it and for some reason it made me laugh really hard. So last night while watching office repeats I drew this full sized version of Chibi Ben. It makes me smile. See tomorrow.

Lent 03

Feb. 18th, 2008 | 09:17 pm

Here is another update. I drew this at work in a few spare minutes. It is an all pen drawing, which turned out okay. Or at least I think so. This is of the redesigned Benway (now to be called PK) in Hangar Rats. Nothing to exciting. This is from a picture I took with my phone not a scan so please pardon the quality.

I think I have enough stuff to actually update everyday this week so please check back soon for more updates. And as always please leave comments, I need to figure out how to make so anyone can leave comments (sorry nick).

Lent 02

Feb. 12th, 2008 | 05:55 pm

I drew this on Ash Wednesday as another drawing for the Zombie RPG. This is Ben the DM who also is a character in the game. He was attacked by a super zombie, hence the claw marks on his face. Scars equal badass. Hopefully the roads are alright so I can drive down there tomorrow for zombie killing action. Check it:

Lent Update 01

Feb. 10th, 2008 | 07:56 pm

So as part of my lent rules I'm trying to force myself to draw more (and hopefully do other bad things less!). Here is another update. I actually drew this before Lent but what I have drawn so far isn't scanned so it seems easier to up some of the older stuff I have gotten done. My buddy Ben (who is going to start cowriting HR) runs a D&D style zombie rpg at his place. I was graciously invited and enjoy it thoroughly. It is way more fun than I would have guessed, it would be even more fun if I wasn't the worse dice roller ever. But I digress! The game is fun and is based on us, your character is just yourself which makes it all kinds of fun. It was suggested that I start to draw all of us as our +5 year selves so I started with Jess, the sole female member of our nerd crew. She is the pack rat class and all I could think was tank girl. Her only requirement was that she have shotgun shells in her ears and bullets gauged in her chest, which is why she is topless (sort of) because I didnt know how else to show that part of her chest. This is extrememly influenced by Hewlett's Tank Girl so props go to him for some inspiration. Anyway here it is, I as always as for comments on what you think! I will try and update again this week with more stuff, maybe just some ink drawings I have done at work. We will see.

Oh and by the way, the empty space on her right (our left) arm is there for me to include our zombie killing militias logo, if we ever get one.

Art....again

Feb. 5th, 2008 | 10:03 pm

Here is something I drew a little while ago for my good friend Katie. Katie is a pretty cool girl who has been dropping less than subtle hints for me to draw a picture of her. Always a sucker for a cute girl I have complied. She was really excited about it which makes it worth it cause seriously there is no reason for me to draw things other than the reaction it brings. Her's made it worth the time spent. The image here is a "painted" version of the pen and ink I did for her. I colored it inside photoshop and purposely didnt stay in the lines. I like the way it turned out, I may be the only one who does though. I could find out via comments. *cough* leave comments *cough*.

Rose City #69 - How the "magic" happens...

Aug. 10th, 2007 | 09:32 pm

Alright, as promised the steps to making a Rose City comic. This will probably only be interesting to a very small subsect of our readership, which is itself a very small subsect. So since this will be a huge image post I cut this entry. Click the link below for the whole thing. Enjoy or something.

All I want is more...

Jul. 18th, 2007 | 08:31 am

What's up? Yeah same here. Last night was not good for me, well in a way it was but it ended unsatisfactory. I won't go into it, but suffice it to say that I didn't sleep well and am dreading another day in hell. But! Drawings. Yay! I drew this for this girl Bridgit who at one point was going to have her webcomic with us, she wanted an avatar for the forum drawn by me. So here is a nice sized version. Check out worthless background components!
I wish I understood girls...

Why do I always draw people looking to the left?

Jul. 16th, 2007 | 11:48 am

Seriously. I never really noticed it until I was looking back through the post here. Must be easier to draw them this way or something. I know I haven't been good at updating this thing so here is more art work for you all. This is a bit of quick art I did. I hate to think of a cute girl like this being broken hearted, but that is how life goes sometimes. It builds you up and then just beats the shit out of you and leaves you bleeding in the gutter. It's not that I'm bitter or anything...

Check it:
And every time you feel like crying, I'm gonna try and make you laugh. And if I can't, if it just hurts too bad, then we will wait for it to pass and I will keep you company through those days so long and black. And we'll just keep working on the problem we know we'll never solve of Love's uneven remainder, our lives are fractions of a whole.

Just another brick in the wall

Jul. 8th, 2007 | 09:11 pm

At one point I was thinking of going around and tagging a bunch of restrooms with full sized drawings instead of the usual graffiti of some one was here and this person is gay. I drew up a series of images I thought I might put up, but then I never actually went and did it cause I am lazy and I really don't go many places. Maybe some day I will be one of those people, but for now I am just boring me. However, if you have a room in your house you want someone to draw horrible Sharpie images on give me a call. That is the sort of commission I would do for free. Anyway, here is one of the images that I thought would be cool for some reason. I have no idea why.

I think I was listening to too much Punk when I drew this. Or it might have been that El-P album actually. Love on a Prisonship. Or shift. I'm not sure what he says or what that track is actually called.

Back.

Jul. 6th, 2007 | 12:07 pm

Well I missed two weeks of updates according to LJ, which is bad I know. I found like 8 images I wanted to scan but never got around too so maybe this weekend I can knock them out and start getting them online. I have also fallen back into being lazy about drawing. Something I need to remedy. I bought to cheap ass sketch pads last time I was at Craft 2000 so I will try to fill them up with lady sketches and other things. I definitely need more partice that is for sure. Here this week's girl Friday:
Nothing special, just a Sharpie drawing of a girl, you know how it goes in the Wild Wild West. Wiki Wiki.

Inks

Jun. 19th, 2007 | 09:59 am

I drew this at work super fast as you can probably tell. It is with a sharpie on a peice of 8 x 11 paper. It is actually a large image. It turned out fairly well, I guess. Especially since the tip of my sharpie is pretty much gone. I am drawing with a nub anymore. More art later this week I think, there are some turtle verus bunny pin-ups I did that I could show you off or some new ink drawings. I am really running out of things to draw, other than people's faces. I need suggestions people.
She is so happy about something. Don't ask me what, I am unfamiliar with that kind of emotion. Also her lips look really bad...stupid dull sharpie.

Girls to do the dishes and clean up my room...

Jun. 15th, 2007 | 08:19 am

Really I came up with this girls Fridays thing just so I would have an excuse to quote that Beastie Boys song "Girls". That is half true. That song is amazing though. Haha. Anyway, I have been lazy and haven't got some of my newer drawings scanned in so I am going to post a drawing I did for this waitress I thought was cute. She worked at Fridays and her name was Chelsea (and everyone knows Skinhead boys love Chelsea girls). She doesn't work there anymore, I don't think, I don't know. Anyway, I drew this not really for her more just cause I was trying to draw more woman and it seemed like a good idea. I was later told she didn't even think it looked like her, which is kind of harsh since it is a fucking comic book likeness. Anyway, I fucked up her hat and her shoulders, but here you go.
I stole this idea from Doctor McNinja. Chris Hastings rocks my feeble clerk world.

See the post below this and make suggestions of things for me to draw. It is like a free commission, except you don't get the art and it probably won't turn out as well!

A call for help

Jun. 13th, 2007 | 10:17 am

So I am at work with access to lots of paper and markers and pens, but I have the hardest time coming up with anything worth drawing. Is there something you want to see me draw? Or just any idea of things to try? Let me know in the comments. I need ideas and I am not coming up with any.

Surprise is one of the emotions I am feeling...also hunger.

Jun. 13th, 2007 | 10:12 am

Another musically inspired ink drawing for you all. I was listening to the Decemberist album Crane Wife and I drew this. It depicts when the man realizes that his wife is actually a crane he rescued and that she has been spinning silk from her feathers. It is an old Japanese fairy tale, hence the top knot. I drew this with my trusty Uniball pen. Good times.
Sound the keening bellAnd see it's painted redSoft as fontenelleThe feathers in the threadAnd all I ever meant to do was to keep youMy crane wife
